Allergy
Sneezing, coughing, runny nose, head and nasal congestions,
itchy eyes, …
Many people are suffering from these uncomfortable symptoms,
especially in spring.
TV, radio, magazines are all talking about “solutions to the
allergies” this time of the season.
Pollen, air pollution, dust, animal dander, etc…
Yes, those are the triggers for the allergies.
But if they are the only cause, why not everybody has allergy
symptoms?
What’s the difference?
Primary Causes of Allergy -- Quality of Blood
The underlying, primary cause of allergy is weakened, overly-
acidic blood/lymph and other body fluids, caused by
imbalanced diet.
Over-consumption of acid-forming food such as dairy(especially
milk), animal products(meat, poultry, eggs), sugar, fruits and
vegetables of tropical origin, juice, flour products (bread, pastry)
stimulants(coffee, tea), spices, alcohol, chemicals(additives, pills,
drugs), as well as overeating in general all make the quality of
blood unhealthy and poor.
Also, lack of whole grains, fresh vegetables, and other high-fiber
foods that strengthen the blood and help discharge toxins from
the body, makes the condition worse and more susceptible to
allergy.
Yin/Yang point of view ---yin repels yin
Overall, the condition of someone with allergies tends to be more
yin, ---expanding, loose and weak--- because of the overly yin
dietary habit.(milk, sugar, fruits, caffeine, etc)
Triggers, such as pollen, are also yin -- light, expansive.
When they enter the nasal passage or lungs, “yin repels yin” and
causes sneezing, coughing, and discharge of mucus.
Also, those extreme yin foods make the blood, lymph and internal
membranes sticky. (sugar gets sticky at warm temperature,
right?), so that when pollen is inhaled, it remains and adheres to
the surfaces, causing irritation, instead of being discharged
smoothly, and aggressive reactions.
Solutions to the root causes
Strengthen the blood/lymph and other body fluid
To avoid (too acidic. avoid until condition improves)
Dairy(especially cold milk)
sugar and other sweeteners
juice(concentration of simple sugar)
fruits and vegetables of tropical origins(banana, papaya,
avocado, tomato, potato, eggplant, pepper, etc)
stimulants (coffee,spices,alcohol)
animal food
To cut down (yin, weaken the blood)
Raw food(salad etc)
fruits
oil
oatmeal (mucus forming)
processed grains (bread, pasta, noodles)
nuts, seeds, nut butter
tofu (at least, do not overeat)
To eat (strengthen and purify blood)
Whole grains (whole form)
vegetables (leafy greens, root veggies, round veggies)
miso soup
seaweed
dried tofu
