High Protein, Low Carb Diet
The theory of this diet goes like this.
By cutting down on carbohydrates, which is the fuel
to your body, stored fat as well as protein begins to
convert itself into usable energy, thus , lose weight
(fat).
It may work in the short run.
But in the long run, it would exhaust and over
burden your system, and inevitably, you start to
crave “quick-fuel”, that is, simple carbs/sugar!
With a short supply of glycogen in the liver, the
body is forced to convert protein, along with stored
fat, into glucose for energy.
This process requires tremendous amount of
energy and has huge stress on our body.
Also, excess protein (and fat) produces toxic waste,
such as ketones, which leads to dehydration and
kidney / liver damage.
Our body still needs constant energy supply, that
is, carbohydrates, so in the long run, people with
this type of diet gets totally exhausted and starts to
crave easy, quick fuel.
That is, simple carbs, simple sugar.
That’s why, many people with this type of diet
eventually go off the wagon and experience
“rebound”.
Possible health problems by high protein intake
coronary / heart diseases, weakenss of
bones/teeth, mineral deficiency, obesity, diabetes,
cancers of breast,colon, rectum, pancreas,
prostate gland, kidneys.
