From My home to Yours
My typical day.... macrobiotic way of life
Start my day with kukicha tea and walking
Morning is the time when energy shifts from yin to yang.
First thing I do in the morning is go to bathroom and rinse
my mouth, scrape tongue with tooth brush, which brush off
bacteria and stimulate body system, and massage the gum
with my finger.
Then I start boiling kukicha tea (organic leaf. or sometimes
when I'm feeling to be cleansed, like after weekend of
indulgence, make mugwart tea instead), while I do a simple
prayer for the day and a little stretches.
And drink the nice hot tea.
a few times a week, i make *umesho bancha tea, which gives
me strong yang energy as well as wakes up my digestive
system for the day.
* 1 pickled umeboshi, smashed, grate fresh ginger, a few
drops of soy sauce and fill the cup with hot bancha tea or
mugwart tea.
and this is a great home remedy for colds/flu, headache,
digestive problems, well, in fact, everything!
then go for a morning walk in central park.
sometimes stop and do quick "Do in" exercise. especially
feel good when the weather is nice and feel the morning sun
: )
when i feel like it, i go to a small pond in the park and look
for birds.
if lucky, i see cardinals, herons, etc...
walking in the morning gives me lots of energy for the day.
many meridians run on the soles of the foot,
Breakfast
by the time i get home, im so hungry.
A small bowl of some kind of whole grains (brown rice with
other grains mix) and pickles.
This makes my stomach strong and fill my body with energy.
Cleanse my nostrils
Using neti pot, with warm water and pinch of sea salt, I
cleanse my nostrils.
It clears the sinus as well as vision and head!
I do this, not just morning, whenever I feel I'm exposed to
cold , dry air or crowds.
Moderate exercise
during the day,i try to go to gym and do 30 to 40 min
moderate exercise.
Tea
Bancha tea, mugwart tea or “real” green tea
I drink tea throughout the day.
Bancha tea is toasted green tea, much lower caffeine and
less yin than green tea.
So mild that it does not make you feel jittery which green tea
sometimes does.
Mugwart tea is also mild herbal tea with earthy aroma, and
cleanses your blood and body system.
When I need a bit of “kick”, I prepare green tea, but not one
of those tea bagged ones, which do not taste or smell like
green tea at all.
When I drink green tea, I use a good quality of water, not too
hot, and enjoy the aroma and flavor.
Macrobiotic lunch
For lunch I usually eat leftover from last night with brown rice.
A few small dishes and soup.
I do not microwave unless I'm somehow in a real hurry.
Snack
my favorite time.
i know im eating too much snack : (
but cannot help!
usually a nice whole wheat sourdough bread(either from
farmer's market or Amy's bread. no yeast, and organic).
steam it and eat with organic pure peanut butter(no sugar or
additives) with some kind of fruit jam (also organic, no sugar,
and fresh from farmer's market)
or sometimes mochi (sweet rice cake)
nuts and dried fruits are also my daily snack.
Macrobiotic dinner
I make a few small macrobiotic dishes, including soup, and
eat them with brown rice.
This is my core meal.
But when I go out, I enjoy eating anything except meat.
Stretches, meditation, and chamomile tea to go to bed
The energy is shifting from yang to yin.
After a small prayer, meditation and some stretches,
chamomile tea makes my body and soul relax and prepares
me for bed......
read some books or magazines, im feeling sleepy....
