Shoulder Pain
Shoulder pain is one of the most common problems these days.
It seems that everybody suffers from it to a certain degree.
Too much computer work, talking on the phone, driving, lack of
exercise, poor posture…
All cause this muscle tension in shoulder.
Even though these are the “trigger” to the problem, they are not
the root cause, especially if the pain does not go away, or comes
back again and again even after you receive a massage.
Root causes
1 digestive system in trouble
There is a meridian related to digestive system running along the
shoulder.
So shoulder pain is a sign of troubles in small intestine, large
intestine, gall bladder and other digestive system.
Too much oil, animal protein and sugar makes digestive system
exhausted.
2 acidic blood
Too much sugar, dairy, refined food, baked flour products as well
as animal protein make blood overly acidic. (Healthy blood of ph
is between 7.35 and 7.45, slightly alkaline.)
And acidic blood causes pain and aches, as well as all sorts of
health problems.
As Eastern medicine says, ”Where there is dirty blood, there is
always pain and aches”.
Massage helps blood circulation, so temporarily the pain is
relieved.
Especially shiatsu, which works on meridians, if received regularly
, it helps strengthen the organs.
But unless you reconsider your eating habit (avoid or minimize
acid-forming foods), and eat food that makes your blood clean
and healthy(alkaline-forming), shoulder pain won’t go away and
come back again.
(more about acid alkaline balance, click here)
Foods that make your blood clean and healthy
Most vegetables (land and sea), fruits are alkaline forming.
But overconsumption of fruits, juice, and raw vegetables weaken
digestive system and causes more pain in shoulders.
So eat cooked veggies, and as for fruits, eat in moderation
(preferably cooked).
Sea salt, miso, soy sauce are also alkaline forming.
Other things
Harahachibu
Overeating, even “healthy food” can disturbs digestive system.
“harahachibu” ---eat until 80% full, is the key : )
chew well
to help digestion, chewing well is very important.
30 to 50 times per mouth full is the goal.
Massage(shiatsu), stretches, tapping
Stimulate blood and lymph circulation and relax the muscle as
often as possible, as well as strengthen digestive organs with
regular massage!
Cardio
Walking, swimming and other aerobic exercise are also good.
Even conscious deep breathing can help and have a surprising
effect : )
